| Year 11: Introductory Courses | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The various schools of the Frankfurt area provide the principal catchment area for the Max-Beckmann- School and we attach particular importance to the students' transition into the 6th form college. There is an eight form intake each year with individual class sizes of approximately 25 pupils. Each class stays together for the majority of the courses. Students coming into the Max-Beckmann-School arrive with differing levels of knowledge and skills and emphasis is placed in the first year on compensating for these differences. In particular German, English and Maths are taught more intensively for four hours per week instead of the usual three. In preparation for the higher academic level of the Intensive Courses of years 12 and 13 all students are required to choose two of the compulsory subjects for more intensive study during year 11. All other subjects are studied at the less intensive Basic Courses level. Students can, if they wish, revise their choice of subjects both at the end of the first term (6 months) and at the end of the their first year. We are able to offer almost all subjects both at the Basic Courses and Intensive Courses levels. This is a direct benefit of the large intake of students coming into the school. |
